NIGERIA’S Enyimba FC on Wednesday night qualified for the group stage of the CAF Champions League, following its 4-3 victory over Etoile Sportive du Sahel of Tunisia via penalties.
The two-time African champions had surrendered their first leg three goals lead at the 25000 capacity Stade Olympique de Sousse in Tunisia, as the two-legged game ended 3-3 on aggregate.
The heroics of goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai aided Enyimba to advance to the lucrative group stage of the glamorous competition as he saved three of the spot kicks taken by the Tunisians.
Tournament’s leading scorer Mfon Udoh had missed his kick during the penalty drama as well as Christian Pyagbara, but Afelokahi’s sheer brilliance on the night was able to make up for the misses.
