TINUBU V OYEGUN- GROUP BACKS PARTY CHAIRMAN

The Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, United Front, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa, has has described the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun as a man of integrity, who has transformed the ruling party into a progressive one.
Musa said this against the backdrop of calls by one of the party’s national leaders, Ahmed Tinubu that Oyegun should resign.

Tinubu had demanded the resignation of Oyegun , following the party’s decision to submit the name of Rotimi Akeredolu  to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as its governorship candidate in Ondo State, despite the party’s Appeal Panel calling for a cancellation of the election.
Tinubu’s rumoured anointed candidate for the election, Olusegun Abraham, had opposed the emergence of Akeredolu as candidate, expressing disappointment in Oyegun for allegedly overruling the initial decision of the NWC which ordered the conduct of a fresh primary.
But Musa, in a statement, described Tinubu’s call as laughable, saying Oyegun is “a man of honour, integrity and dignity.”

He said, “The world has seen a more progressive party in APC under Oyegun’s dynamic leadership. Chief Oyegun is not under the influence of a powerful and sinister arm of government. He will never thwart the will of the people.
“The leaders eulogised Oyegun for giving equal rights and opportunities to members of the APC regardless of status, class and affiliation. Oyegun has the leadership quality which goes with creativity, sensitivity, compassion, innovation, courage, vision, character, competence and a very high dosage of patriotism. He is an embodiment of transparency and accountability.”

Musa applauded Oyedun for his strategic roles in internal party governance and in the development and promulgation of party policy, stressing that the National Chairman has brought about a more dynamic way of administering the affairs of the party.
He added that “as a man with impeccable record in governance and party politics, Chief Oyegun will never derail from the path of honour.”
