JUDGE'S ABSENCE STALLS METUH'S, BADEH'S TRIAL

The Federal High Court Abuja on Wednesday deferred the commencement of the defence of the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh till Thursday.

Justice Okon Abang through the court registrar made this known.
DAILY POST gathered that the reason for the adjournment is because the trial judge was attending a seminar.

Metuh is standing trial for money laundering to the tune of N400m which it was alleged to have been part of the funds meant for the procurement of arms for the military.
In the same vain, the trial of former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh was also stalled.
Badeh’s trial was billed to continue today after the court took the testimony of the first prosecution witness last week.

The former Chief of Defence Staff arrived the court room to meet the announcement.

Badeh is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for a 10-count charge ‎of‎ criminal breach of trust and corruption to the tune of N3.9bn, but has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Badeh is alleged to have used funds of the Nigeria Air Force to purchase choice property in Abuja.
According to the EFCC, Badeh illegally used N60m to renovate his sons house, which he purchased for N260m in Abuja, between January and December 2013.
The former Defence chief is also alleged to have used N878m being funds of the Air Force to build a shopping mall in Abuja.
