Super Eagles captain and Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has teamed
up with Samson Siasia’s U-23 squad in preparation for next month’s Rio
Olympics Games.
Mikel has joined with the rest of the team in Atlanta, USA, the Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed on Monday.
NFF wrote on its twitter handle, “Just In: John Mikel Obi joins Olympic Squad in the US.”
The holding midfielder is among the two overage players selected by Samson Siasia as the team targets a gold medal in Brazil.
Recall that Mikel missed out of the 2008 Olympics owing to club commitment.
The younger players will be looking up to him as he will lead the
team to battle Sweden, Colombia and Japan in the preliminary round of
the football event in Rio.
