STEPHEN KESHI BEGINS FINAL JOURNEY (PHOTOS)


The funeral rites of former Nigerian national team captain and coach, late Stephen Okechukwu Keshi on Thursday commenced at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Benin, the Edo State capital. The event witnessed the presence of family members, top members of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, ex-internationals and a host of other friends and associates.
According to the programme, the event will see a novelty match to be played in the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium.
Keshi suddenly died in Benin on June 8, after he was said to have complained of pain in his legs.
His remains will be moved to Asaba, the Delta State capital, after the church service on Thursday, from 1:15pm.
From 3:15, there will be lying-in-state at Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, while a service of songs will hold at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Illah, Delta state by 6:00pm same day.
On Friday, the body is expected to depart Asaba to his home town, Illah by 7am. There will however be a short stop-over at the Ogbelani Palace for traditional rites as a palace chief by 8:00am, followed by lying-in-state at his family home, Ukpologwu Quarters, Illah, from 8:30am.keshi burial2 keshi burial3 keshi burial4
