Tottenham captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is expected the miss the
next four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Everton.
Lloris, 29, made one appearance in preseason after being left out of
the club's trip to Australia -- in common with 10 of Spurs' 11 Euro 2016
representatives -- and he lasted just 25 minutes at Goodison Park
before being replaced by Michel Vorm.
France skipper Lloris will also miss an international friendly
against Italy on Sept. 1 and his country's opening World Cup qualifier
in Belarus five days later.
He is also facing a race to be fit for Tottenham's Champions League opener, which will be played on Sep. 13 or 14.
Vorm, 31, is expected to deputise for Saturday's match against
Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane and the games against Liverpool and
Stoke City, but Spurs will hope Lloris is fit enough to return for the
home clash with Sunderland on Sept. 18.
Vorm played just once in the Premier League last season -- the 1-0
defeat at Manchester United on the opening day -- but he did make five
appearances in the domestic cups.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino reportedly hopes to add another
senior goalkeeper to his squad before the close of the transfer window
at the beginning of next month, and they have been linked with Espanyol's Pau Lopez.
Spurs are already without the suspended Mousa Dembele for the next
three matches, but Son Heung-Min could return this weekend after South
Korea were eliminated from the Olympic Games.
