The Ali-Modu Sheriff’s faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
in Ondo State, has picked governorship aspirant, Jimoh Ibrahim, as its
candidate in the forthcoming Ondo election despite Monday morning court
order stopping Sheriff from going on with another primary election in
the state.
The Sheriff’s faction made the selection in the gubernatorial primary
election conducted at the Banquet Hall of Premier Hotel, Ibadan.
Other contenders in the primary were Mr Olusola Ebiseni, Honourable
Bamiduro Dada, Honourable Niran-Sule Akinsuyi and Mrs. Abiye Ademuyegun.
Accreditation of 801 delegates from the 18 local governments in the
state was done by the Alhaji Ame Gulak-led electoral committee.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the election lasted over two hours
where Dr Jimoh Ibrahim recorded 502 votes to win the election which its
process commenced on Sunday night with his co-contestant, Mr Olusola
Ebiseni having 41 votes while 17 votes were invalid.
After the results were announced, Ibrahim promised the party faithful
that he would create jobs and improve the educational development in
Ondo State.
He said, “I will only occupy one seat in Ondo State, the rest belongs to the people.”
