“To get the winner at Wembley is something I’ve always dreamt of. It’s amazing. I’m over the moon."
Carter’s 18th-minute goal was just the second ever to be scored in a Women’s Cup final at Wembley.
She picked up a long pass on the left wing before turning Blues right-back Hannah Blundell inside out and curling in a beauty of a finish past goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl.
Arsenal’s Spanish boss Pedro Martinez Losa said: “Wembley is red!
“I think our players deserve it for all the effort. They work hard every day and the secret is the team, they stuck together in the difficult moments.

“We had the confidence to play on this big pitch, played good football and then we won.
“We had more opportunities, especially in the first half where we could have scored more goals.
Chelsea were better in the second half, but I think that we deserved to win.”
A tight game was watched in front of a record Women’s Cup final crowd of 32,912.
Carter landed a first-minute chance onto the roof of the net before giving the Gunners a deserved lead with her fine finish.
Asisat Oshoala then squandered three good chances to double the Gunners' lead.
Fran Kirby wasted Chelsea’s best opportunity while Ji So-yun also fired fire wide for the West London side.
