Manchester United's teenage star Marcus Rashford has committed his future to the Red Devils by signing a new contract. He broke into the first team in the 2015/16 season after former manager Louis van Gaal promoted the striker to the senior team.
According to the Telegraph, Rashford has signed a long-term deal with the 20-time English champions and the deal will be announced before the start of the European championship, which will kick-start on 10 June. The contract details remain unclear as of now, but it is believed that he has put pen to paper for a four-year deal.
The wage structure suggests the striker's salary could rise to about £20,000-a-week ($29244) and appearance bonuses and his performance on the pitch could see that figure rise significantly. The England international had 12 months left on his earlier contract and it now looks like he has extended his stay at Old Trafford beyond the end of next season.
Rashford made his debut when he came on as a last minute replacement for injured Anthony Martial in the Europa League clash against FC Midtjylland. The 18-year-old scored a brace and continued his impressive form during his Premier League debut, where he found the back of the net twice in United's 3-2 win over Arsenal.
The teenager's club form saw him make it to Roy Hodgson's 26-man England squad for the Euro 2016. On his international debut, Rashford took 138 seconds to score his first goal for the Three Lions in their 2-1 friendly win over Australia. By doing so, he is now England's youngest debutant goalscorer and broke Tommy Lawton's 78-year record.
Meanwhile, the same report claimed that Cameron Borthwick-Jacksonis also edging towards signing a new deal. He was handed his debut by Van Gaal and has impressed in the left-back position when he was called upon by the Dutchman. Now that Jose Mourinho has replaced the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager, both Rashford and Borthwick-Jackson will face some tough competition for a place in the starting XI.
