Guardiola ensured Manuel Neuer would set a new record of 21 clean sheets when he replaced him Sven Ulreich, allowing the former Stuttgart stopper to make his Bayern debut in the Bundesliga.
Liverpool and Chelsea target Gotze then netted his second nine minutes after the interval in what is likely to be his farewell game — profiting from Hannover’s inability to clear a corner.
A Jerome Boateng error on 66 minutes allowed Artur Sobiech to pull one back for 96.
But it didn’t matter as there was plenty to celebrate after the match.
