REAL MADRID players looked relaxed and ready for battle as they touched down for tomorrow’s Champions League final with deadly rivals Atletico Madrid.
Cristiano Ronaldo flew into Milan with a pair of gold headphones around his neck while Gareth Bale smiled for the photographers.
Ronaldo hobbled away from a training session earlier in the week after a collision with goalkeeper Kiko Casilla but he look calm and collected as he hid behind his shades in the Italian sunshine.
The 10-time European champions take on Diego Simeone’s side at the San Siro in a repeat of the 2014 final in Lisbon when former Tottenham ace Bale headed the winner in extra time.
Naturally, the Welshman is hoping for the same result – but with less drama given that Los Blancos had trailed for the majority of that night at the Estadio de Luz before Sergio Ramos equalised in the third minute of second-half stoppage time
Bale said: “The first thing you think about is your last final and to know you can beat the opponent. We know this will be a completely different game, but we are confident we can win it.
“Zinedine Zidane gives us freedom and confidence on the pitch and that has showed in the second half of the season. I think that is why our performances have improved,’
“We’re hitting our peak and playing very well at the moment. Hopefully we can take the form we’ve been producing into the final and win the trophy.”
However, Barcelona legend Xavi is amongst those who tip Atletico to be crowned kings of Europe.
He said: I believe that Atletico will take home the trophy. I think this is the moment of Atletico.
“They deserve it because of the work they are doing.
“Of course it is not the philosophy of play that I like the most, because they speculate and wait in defence, but I think it is the moment of Atletico Madrid.
