The Garden City of Port Harcourt is agog, as football stars around the world assembled in Nigeria for Joseph Yobo’s testimonial happening today inside the Adokiye Amasiemaka Stadium.
The latest arrival for the testimonial are Cameroon legend, Samuel Eto’o Fils, former Everton manager, David Moyes and a host of other stars who came to honour the former Eagles captain in Port Harcourt. It was a glorious reunion with Moyes who had Yobo as his first signing at Everton coming to honour his former player testimonial.
Nigerian stars like Austin Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, Godfrey Oboabona, Vincent Enyeama, Emmanuel Emenike, Danny Shittu, Ahmed Musa, Ike Shorunmu, Austin Eguavoen, Amodu Shuaibu and many others will file-out for the Super Eagles’ stars in today’s game, while the likes of Eto’o, Ghanaian stars Stephen Appiah, Dede and Jordan Ayew, Didier Drogba among others will also feature for Yobo and Friends in the testimonial match.
Reacting ahead of the match, Yobo reflected on his illustrious career both for clubs and country, saying he has no regrets whatsoever putting Nigeria’s Super Eagles first. “God has favoured me, I am first to play 100 games for Nigeria and first African to Captain Everton. “I appreciate the amazing support I have received from everyone. I have no regrets putting Nigeria first, always,” Yobo wrote on twitter.
The players are lodged at the Presidential Hotel in Port Harrcourt, the game holds at the Adokiye Amasiemaka Stadium by 4pm; and it will also be broadcast live on major Super Sport stations.
