Ronaldo has let bygones be bygones after his bitter Bernabeu fall-out with the Special One and wishes him good luck at Old Trafford.
And he gives Mourinho his vote of confidence as the Special One prepares to take charge of Ron’s former club.
Mourinho and Ronaldo’s bitter feud dominated headlines — particularly in the manager’s last season at the Bernabeu.
In an exclusive TV interview to be shown by La Sexta station Ronaldo said: “He’s already signed, hasn’t he? I think it’s good. If it’s something United wanted I think it’s good.
“I hope Manchester United get back to being what they were because it’s an impressive club, but in the last years they lacked an identity a bit.
“And it hurts me seeing United like that because it’s a club I carry in my heart. I wish Mourinho can restore them back to the top.”
Ronaldo — whose Real Madrid side face neighbours Atletico in Saturday’s Champions League final in Milan — dismissed suggestions he still holds a grudge against Mourinho.
The two fell out because of Mourinho’s negative tactics, particularly in the historic battles against Barcelona in a series of infamous Clasicos in his first season.
