FABRICE MUAMBA RETURNS TO THE PITCH FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE HIS CARDIAC SCARE IN 2012

FABRICE Muamba has played football for the first time since a heart attack which saw him die for 76 minutes.
Former Bolton midfielder Muamba, 28, collapsed on the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur after suffering a cardiac arrest during an FA Cup tie in 2012.
Following lengthy attention on the pitch from medical personnel – including a consultant cardiologist who was at White Hart Lane as a fan – Muamba’s life was saved.

But he had to retire immediately with a rare heart condition at the age of 24 - before being fitted with a pacemaker.
On Saturday he took to the pitch at Bolton’s Macron Stadium in a legends’ match run by Bolton Wanderers’ Community Trust and Bolton Wanderers’ Supporters Trust.
A late addition to the substitutes’ bench, Muamba’s inclusion was met with rapturous applause by more than 11,000 people thrilled so see him playing again.
He came on in the 33rd minute with fans chanting his name – and he instantly provided an assist for a goal, before later winning and then SCORING a penalty.
