Taraji P. Henson won a NAACP Image Award on Friday night and used her acceptance speech to sound a clarion call for the African-American acting community.
The Empire star was named Outstanding Actress In A Drama Series at the ceremony that recognizes 'the accomplishment of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film.'
Referencing the 'Oscarssowhite' controversy, the 45-year-old declared: 'We don't need to ask for ask for acceptance from ANYONE. WE are enough.'

Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett were among the heavy hitters who came out to support the event.
Jada, of course, recently made headlines with her announcement that she would not be attending the Oscars this year in protest at her husband not getting a nomination for his role in the movie Concussion.
But while Will, 47,was nominated for the NAACP Outstanding Actor Award, it just wasn't his night.
Instead, young actor Michael B. Jordan, 28, the star of Creed, was the winner, thanking his parents in an emotional speech for their support.
