A woman who became deaf as a child in one ear came up with a permanent solution to remind her friends which side she hears on.
Redditor raingoose had the computer symbol of a speaker with a tiny 'x' adjacent to it tattooed behind her left ear lobe.
'Since I'm deaf on one ear I thought this was a friendly (way) to tell the world not talking to me from the left,' she wrote on Imgur on Thursday.
The post has since become viral with millions of views. Many redditors left questions for her about why she chose one symbol over another one such as a microphone.
When asked why she chose a speaker instead of the mic she wrote: 'I thought that people won't talk to me at all if I chose the mic.'
'Or rather, that they think i cannot speak at all. I may be a stutterer, but I can still articulate myself:-),' she added.
The clever girl said she spent a lot of time thinking over the design before committing to the ink for life.
‘Be sure that I thought this through and after weeks of thinking I decided that this symbol describes it the best.’
Raingoose's post inspired others to post photos of their own witty tattoos to remind people that they are deaf, according to Huffington Post who shared a few examples.
Uber Paswed posted a pic of his crossed out microphone tattoo in front of the photo of raingoose's post.
User presswandres posted the photo of his tattoo that simply reads: 'deaf.'
