A mass transit bus was, on Thursday, engulfed in flames at the Eko bridge in Lagos.
Although there were few passengers in the bus when it suddenly went up in flames at about 1pm, no casualty was recorded.
The State Fire Service Director, Rasaq Fadipe, confirmed the incident to journalists saying officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, have already moved the bus to the other side of the road to avoid traffic gridlock.
According to an eye witness, the passengers including the driver took to their heels when they eventually succeeded in opening the door after several trials.
“The bus has almost burnt completely before officials of the state fire service were alerted. But when they got to the scene, the fire was contained,” the eye witness told newsmen.
