Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal bizarrely revealed on Wednesday that he has urged his players to be 'horny' for Europa League victory over Midtjylland at Old Trafford.
The United boss said: 'Desire, hunger, a lot of times I use the word horny!' when confessing to how he has tried to inculcate commitment to the cause in his players, as the Red Devils pursue a place in the last 16 of the competition on Thursday.
Yet, later in the day, former United great Rio Ferdinand admitted that Van Gaal's battle cry was far from similar to that of Sir Alex Ferguson's at the Theatre of Dreams.

As BT Sport's Gary Lineker stated that Van Gaal has 'taken sexy football to an entirely different level with that one,' pundit Ferdinand humorously replied: 'That's the complete opposite to Fergie - he never wanted us horny like that!'
United lost 2-1 to Danish minnows Midtjylland at the MCH Arena in an embarrassing affair last Thursday.
The 64-year-old Dutchman has endured a difficult season in the Premier League, and United sit in fifth position with 41 points from 26 games, six points off fourth-placed rivals, Manchester City.
