Hannover replied through their captain Schulz, who headed Hiroshi Kiyotake's free kick in off the underside of the crossbar in the 32nd minute.

Josip Drmic scored his first goal for Hamburg in the seventh minute, turning in Aaron Hunt's cross after a slick move down the right wing.
Ingolstadt had two good early chances to equalise in the second half before Lukas Hinterseer did bring them back on terms with a header from Pascal Gross' cross.
