Donald Trump has selected Mike Pence, the Indiana governor, as his running mate, according to multiple US media outlets.
Mr Pence, 57, is an experienced politician, and a less flashy pick when compared to the likes of Newt Gingrich and Chris Christie, who were among the other finalists.
Mr Trump will formally announce his pick on Friday morning in New York, and his campaign denies that the selection is finalised.
However, all signs point to Mr Pence as the choice. He served as a Congressman for 12 years, and has been Indiana's governor for the past three.
He has a reputation as a social and fiscal conservative, and has been praised both by the Tea Party and the Republican establishment.
