CLUB SL BENFICA ARE CROWNED PORTUGUESE LIGA CHAMPIONS FOR THE THIRD TIME IN A ROW (PHOTOS)

BENFICA celebrated winning a record-extending 35th Primeira Liga title — and third in a row.
Portugal’s most successful club beat Nacional to win the national crown.
The two-time European champions came into the final day of the season knowing victory would guarantee them the title as they sat two points ahead of rivals, Sporting.

Nacional’s late consolation couldn’t ruin the mood around the Estadio da Luz as the fans celebrated a third consecutive title.
Sporting knew their fate was out of their own hands as they faced a tricky looking match at Braga.
But they did their job and then some — winning 4-0.
Former Benfica boss Jorge Jesus shocked the nation when he moved to their Lisbon rivals in the summer.
But his side just fell short.
