The three-day warning strike embarked upon by doctors in Imo State following the alleged shooting of a doctor, Bede Azudialu, during a peaceful protest organised by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Imo State Chapter, which should have ended Sunday, has been extended to Wednesday.
While all government hospitals have remained shut following the incident, with the total withdrawal of doctors by NMA, the Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners (AGPMP), Imo state chapter, has joined the strike action, withdrawing it’s services started from Monday.
The State Chairman of AGPMP, Dr. Philip Njemanze, said that they decided to join the strike action after they watched the Police trivialising the shooting of their colleague.
