Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has reportedly flown home from holiday to discuss his long-term future with Jose Mourinho. The 42-year-old served as the club's assistant manager under previous boss Louis van Gaal, but his future is uncertain following Mourinho's appointment.
It is widely thought that the Old Trafford club would like to retain Giggs' services, although it has been suggested he will be offered a lesser role under the new regime. Giggs is set to meet Mourinho later this week to see where he fits into the Premier League-winning coach's plans, according to The Telegraph.
The Welshman could possibly leave the club this summer in a bid to further his long-term hopes of managing United, having been persistently touted as their next boss by van Gaal. Giggs was appointed as an interim manager in 2014 following the sacking of David Moyes and has been open about his ambition of managing his boyhood club.
Meanwhile, one United legend who has warmly welcomed Mourinho's arrival is Sir Bobby Charlton, who told the Portuguese he was "very happy" to see him at the club's training base. However, Sir Bobby previously questioned whether Mourinho was the right manager for United.
Charlton has said: "Mourinho is a really good coach but that's as far as I would go really. He pontificates too much for my liking. He's a good manager, though."
