EX FCT MINISTER, ALIYU MODIBBO DUMPS PDP FOR APC

A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Aliyu Modibbo, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC, saying it is the first time he is joining a political party.
The former minister was one of the pioneer leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Modibbo registered to become a member of the APC during the weekend at the party’s office in his ward in Kumo West of Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.

During President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, Modibbo served as Minister of State, Power and Steel as well as Minister of Commerce, while he was appointed Minister of FCT by Late President Umaru Yar’Adua.

Modibbo told reporters that he joined the APC in order to contribute his quota to the success of President Muhammadu Buhari government in his quest to change Nigeria for the better.

According to him, “This is the first time I am personally joining a political party, even though I served as minister three times under the PDP administration. All the appointments were based on merit.”
He further noted that he deliberately delayed the move to join the APC till now so that he would not be accused of seeking for an appointment in the administration of the new government.
