Leaders of the Fulani Community yesterday paid an emergency visit to the Nigerian Senate to petition the house for referring to the Herdsmen as Terrorists.
This was confirmed by the official social media page of the Nigerian Senate on Twitter which announced: “Emergency visit of #Fulani reps to SP @bukolasaraki petitioning the Senate for referring to herdsmen as terrorists.”
The Nigerian Senate revealed further in its series of tweets:
“Senate President @bukolasaraki now arrives the meeting room where the Socio-Cultural Association all the way from Jigawa State are seated.
“Members of the Group now introducing themselves with Umar Kabiru Hadejia as Chairman & Isyaku Umar Sanda as Secretary. #HerdsmenMeetSenate
“The group appeals for the intervention of the Senate to address distorted stories, allegations, etc. in the news. #HerdsmenMeetSenate
“Chair of Kautal Hore Socio-Cultural Association now speaking says fulanis are the largest nomadic group in the world. #HerdsmenMeetSenate
“Kautal Hore group insist that fulanis are peace lovers & respecters of all Nigerian laws and are from being terrorists. #HerdsmenMeetSenate
“The group urges the Senate #AgricCttee to look into coming up with enabling laws that will protect their image. #HerdsmenMeetSenate
“SP @bukolasaraki now responding says the Senate is putting in measures to ensure the conflict with farmers ends soon. #HerdsmenMeetSenate
“SP @bukolasaraki also appeals with the Fulani group to exercise patience and always maintain peace in their communities. #HerdsmenMeetSenate
SP @bukolasaraki concludes saying Senate will look into their plea and will continue to work towards ending the crisis. #HerdsmenMeetSenate”
