ABIA GUBER TUSSLE- UCHE OGAH HEADS TO THE SUPREME COURT

Samson Ogah, who was declared governor of Abia State by a court in June, is heading to the Supreme Court to claim his mandate.
Incumbent governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, had challenged the court ruling, and has refused to step down.
On August 18, the Court of Appeal in Abuja upturned the decision to hand Mr. Ogah the position.
The Appeal Court said Mr. Ikpeazu had not committed any tax offence as the first court ruled.
In its ruling, a five-member panel led by Justice Morenike Ogunwumiju said the June 27 ruling amounted to “raping democracy”.
“After reading through the judgement several times I was amazed at how the trial judge arrived at his conclusion of perjury against the appellant when there was no evidence of forgery. To say the least, his findings are ridiculous,” the court said.
Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES on Wednesday, Mr. Ogah’s lawyer, Alex Izinyon, said his client had resolved to go to the highest court.
“Yes I will let you have our processes, Monday next week,” Mr. Izinyon said when asked whether his client would proceed to the Supreme court.

POPULAR MTV BASE DISC JOCKEY, EHIS DEBUNKS RUMOURS OF BEING GAY

Popular MTV Base video jockey and on-screen personality, Ehizojia “Ehiz” Okoeguale, was very quick to confess that he likes girls of all sizes and shapes so long as they have a good sense of humour.
The second edition of the MTV Base VJ Search was held in 2013 with Ehizokjie Okoegulae aka “Ehiz” emerging as winner and he went home with $10,000 and a brand new car.
Since his win, Ehiz has become a regular face at high profile events, red carpets and he presently hosts “Naija Top 10″ and “Word on the Street” on MTV Base.
He is also set to be the host of Ridiculousness Africa, an all-African video clip comedy show showcasing and commenting on hilarious and crazy African Internet videos.
In this interview with PREMIUM TIMES’ Ebuka Onyeji, the winner of the MTV Base VJ search 2013, ‘Ehiz the Dada Boy’ as he is fondly called by fans, throws more light on his personal life and what it takes to be a Video Jockey.
PT: You won the 2013 MTV Base VJ search, what were the difficulties you faced and what made you stand out from the rest?
EHIZ: Standing out? I swear to God I guess it’s just personality, positive energy, simplicity and the ability to connect with the crowd that made me stand out. The difficult part that we face is the difficult thing that every single Nigerian face. No light, no fuel and the traffic. “Dollar don cost die” that’s the difficult part but basically it’s been Godspeed, God has been watching us day in, night out. We travel but it’s not by our might. God is still in control, the family is getting bigger and we are looking for another Video Jockey.
PT: Speaking of the search for the next MTV Base VJ, what are you really looking for? What is the unique special ingredient you want? What does it take to be EHIZ?

EHIZ: The next person shouldn’t try to be me. MTV base is looking for leaders, if you check the lineage of MTV VJ’s they have always been leaders in their own field so for you to be next-in-line, you need to have the swags, positive vibes and be eloquent. When you enter anywhere you have to light up the room. It happens we have seen people do it and judging from the brand MTV Base once you hear the name you know it has to be fresh, you know people like MTV so the person has to be real because it will be your life, it’s not like a banker who starts work by 8a.m and closes by 4pm, no! when you are a VJ you sleep as a VJ, you wake up as a VJ there is no clocking out so that’s how it is.
PT: You studied computer engineering, what motivated you for showbiz?
EHIZ: Damn! It really started long ago men! It’s just something I found myself doing and I discovered I derive joy doing it. Back then in school, we host small shows and before you know it your name starts ringing a bell. As for the engineering thing, “na person pay our school fees so you just have to make the man happy”. Laughs…
PT: Do you have a girlfriend and what is your type of woman?
EHIZ: None that I know of. You know a lot of speculations circulate around the media that you date this or that person so that’s why I said none that I know of but I like dark skinned women and a woman who’s got flesh; You know I’m a slim guy laughs. Basically any woman that jokes a lot and makes me laugh is my typical kind of woman.
PT: Are you gay? Or straight?
EHIZ: Giggles. Hmm no no no I’m not gay, I’m straight like a pencil and I like women.
PT: What’s your take on this new trend called dabbing? Some section of the public think it’s immoral.
EHIZ: For me, it’s just a dance and has nothing to do with anything devilish, it’s like saying “Shoki” or “Yahooze” dance is devilish, it’s just a normal dance step.

FILM CHRONICLING THE LIVES OF THE OBAMAS , SOUTHSIDE REVEALS BARACK STILL TUCKS MICHELLE INTO BED

Last week, the highly anticipated Obama romance film, Southside with You hit theaters. In the last months of the Obama White House, audiences will be able to get a deeper look at how our outgoing POTUS and FLOTUS met and fell in love.

And though their first date was pretty memorable, the rest of their love story is even more romantic – down to the fact that, in the White House, he still tucks her into bed every night. (We'll get to that!)

For starters: Barack Obama and Michelle Robinson met while working at the Chicago law firm Sidley Austin, when Barack was working as a summer associate and Michelle was his adviser.

At first, Michelle said she expected her advisee, then a Harvard Law student, to be "nerdy, strange, off-putting."

But he surprised her.

"I was charmed," she told Chicago Magazine. "I was pleasantly surprised by who he turned out to be."

And his looks didn't hurt.

"He was cuter than I thought he'd be," she told CNN.

Their first date, back in 1989, – the subject of Southside with You – was a long one. "We spent the whole day together," Michelle said. They went to the Art Institute of Chicago, had lunch in the museum's courtyard, had a drink on the 99th floor of the John Hancock building, saw Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing and took a long walk down Michigan Avenue.

"He showed all the sides," she said in a video. "He was hip. Cultural. Sensitive. The fountain, nice touch. The walk, sensitive."

"Take tips, gentlemen," he added.

He impressed her family, too. When Michelle brought Barack home to meet her mother, Marian Robinson, she got a good vibe from the future president.

"He was very tall and strong, because she's strong," Robinson told PEOPLE in 2007. "And, you know, it just seemed like a good match. I just think he's a nice person and I just think she felt like he was a nice intelligent young man and she said he had a good sense of humor."

Michelle's brother, Craig Robinson, agreed.

"It wasn't easy to pass the approval test in the Robinson household," he wrote in his 2010 book, A Game of Character. "Although I have to admit that the first time we met Barack, he couldn't have made a better impression."

Clearly, Barack charmed the object of his affections, too: He took her to church basements where she saw him speak, and got a glimpse of the politician he'd grow to be.

"He was able to articulate a vision that resonated with people, that was real," she said. "And right then and there, I decided this guy was special. The authenticity you see is real, and that's why I fell in love with him."

They were together through four years of ups and downs (including the 1991 death of Michelle's father) before he proposed in 1991, at the now-closed Gordon's restaurant in Chicago, placing a ring next to the dessert – just after Michelle was telling him to get serious about their relationship.

"I don't think I even ate it," she said. "I was so shocked and sort of a little embarrassed because he did sort of shut me up."

Two years after they wed, andtwo decades before Barack announced his candidacy for president, the couple was profiled in the New Yorker in the story "A Couple in Chicago," part of a series on various couples across the United States (talk about foresight).

Four years into their marriage, Barack was still smitten with Michelle, and the sides of her not everyone else got to see.

"Michelle is a tremendously strong person, and has a very strong sense of herself and who she is and where she comes from," he said. "But I also think in her eyes you can see a trace of vulnerability that most people don't know, because when she's walking through the world she is this tall, beautiful, confident woman."

And even in 1996, Michelle knew a political career could be on the horizon for her husband, but was worried about how he'd handle it.

SELENA GOMEZ IS TAKING "TIME OFF" AFTER BOUTS OF PANIC ATTACKS AND DEPRESSION

After traveling the world over the last few months for her Revival World Tour, Selena Gomez is taking a break to take care of herself.

“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” the singer and actress, 24, tells People exclusively in a statement. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues,” she continues.

According to Kenneth M. Farber, the co-CEO and co-president of the Lupus Research Alliance, “it is not commonly known that depression, anxiety and panic attacks can be side effects of lupus. We are so proud of Selena for taking care of herself and bringing awareness to this sometimes very misunderstood illness.”
A source close to Gomez tells People the break is “absolutely not related to alcohol or substance abuse” and was prompted after she “hadn’t felt like herself” over the last couple of months.
“She decided to clear her calendar for the year in order to have this be her priority for future happiness and didn’t want to leave any promoters at bay,” says the source. “She feels relieved that she can now make more sense of why she was feeling the way she was and is optimistic about the future.”
Last fall, the star confirmed ongoing rumors she was battling the autoimmune disease, telling Billboard she underwent chemotherapy as treatment during a break she took in 2013 in the midst of her Stars Dance tour.
“I wanted so badly to say, ‘You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You’re ass*****.’ I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again,” Gomez told the publication.

WOMAN WHO CALLED COPS ON CHRIS BROWN ALLEGES HE PULLED A GUN ON HER

The woman who called the cops on Chris Brown says the singer pulled a gun on her because she was admiring a piece of jewelry … and afterwards his people demanded she sign a non-disclosure agreement.
Baylee Curran appeared on TMZ Live and said she had partied with Chris in the past and he was always nice, but this time he appeared to be out of it … on drugs or alcohol.

She says she came to his house with a friend, spent a little time in the hot tub, and then walked back inside where a member of Chris’s crew was displaying a piece of jewelry. Baylee says when she admired it the guy went nuts, and then Chris followed suit by demanding she “get the f*** out” and pointed a gun at her.
The craziest part … as she tried to leave she says Chris’ people wouldn’t let her take her cell phone until she signed a non-disclosure agreement. She refused to sign, and she and her friend left.
TMZ broke the story … Baylee, Miss California Regional 2016, called 911 and that started the standoff with Chris.

SINGER, CHRIS BROWN ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH ASSAULT FOR ALLEGEDLY THREATENING WOMAN

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pop star Chris Brown was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on Tuesday after a daylong standoff and search at his Los Angeles home that began when a woman called 911, police said.
Brown, 27, denied any wrongdoing in posts on Instagram before he was taken into custody and said that he had woken up to find police outside and that they would need a warrant to enter the property in the Tarzana neighborhood in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley.
“He is being transported to robbery homicide, where he will be arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, Lieutenant Chris Ramirez of the Los Angeles Police Department told reporters at an impromptu media conference outside Brown’s home.
Ramirez declined to elaborate on the charges against Brown, saying that the investigation was still under way. Earlier TMZ.com and the Los Angeles Times reported that the singer had pointed a gun at the woman.

Police who responded to the 911 emergency call spent hours surrounding the home before obtaining a search warrant and beginning a search of the sprawling premises in the early afternoon.
During that search TMZ posted a photo of Brown standing outside the home with a police officer and his attorney, Mark Geragos. Geragos could not be reached by Reuters for comment.
In 2009, Brown assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna, and in 2015 finished a lengthy term of probation, community service and domestic violence classes. Brown has also been involved in several other incidents involving violence.
"I don’t sleep half the damn night I just wake up to all these … helicopters, choppers is around, police out there at the gate,” Brown said on Instagram.
“I don’t care y'all going to stay playing with me like I’m the villain out here, like I’m going crazy … good luck when you get the warrant or whatever you need to do. You’re going to walk right up in here and you’re going to see nothing you idiots,” he added.
