BARCELONA legend Xavi has donated his personal luxury yacht in a bid to help refugees cross the Mediterranean Sea.
The Spanish midfielder, 36 – now playing in Qatar – handed the keys to his boat over to non-governmental organisation Proactiva Open Arms (POA) this week.The NGO are dedicated to saving lives at sea and are currently stationed in Lesvos where they are helping migrants attempting to enter Greece.
However, the vessel itself will NOT be used, instead, it will now be sold at a public auction with funds raised going towards the charitable cause.
The POA released a video on their Facebook page with the following message: “The soccer player Xavi Hernández collaborates with Proactiva Open Arms with the donation of a recreational craft to be auctioned in the near future.
