Paul Pogba has ‘clearly expressed his desire to complete the circle by returning to Manchester United’, according to reports in France.
L’Equipe claim that Pogba has told friends and teammates that he wants to return to Manchester, four years after leaving for Juventus. He is not the first player to return to the club who rejected him.
Mino Raiola, Pogba’s agent who also represents United signings Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, has apparently been tasked with making an offer to the Italian club as soon as Euro 2016 is over, with the Daily Telegraph claiming that Jose Mourinho wants Pogba in United training before the Community Shield on August 7.
According to L’Equipe, Raiola met with Ed Woodward to discuss the deal in southern France yesterday.
Juventus will only sell Pogba for a new world-record fee and going beyond £90m is not expected to be a problem for United; they have effectively priced Real Madrid – reportedly Pogba’s own first choice – out of the market.
“I think his style of football will suit the Premier League more than the Spanish league,” says Paul Ince.
“I remember when I first went to Inter Milan in Serie A and I was that kind of aggressive player and every time I made a tackle I was getting booked, that was frustrating.
“So Pogba now coming into a league where it is tough, where he can show what he’s all about, I think is a perfect fit for him and for Man United.”
