Michael
Phelps got a visit from his two biggest supporters over the weekend
while training for the upcoming Rio Games alongside other members of the
United States swim team.
The
five-time Olympian was joined in Atlanta by his infant son Boomer and
fiancee Nicole Johnson, with Phelps taking some time away from the pool
for the group to take a visit to the local aquarium.
Boomer also got a chance to meet a few of the other Olympic swimmers who will be heading to Brazil with his dad in just 10 days.

Boomer and fiancee Nicole Johnson visited him at Olympic training camp
in Atlanta over the weekend (above)
Smooch: The group took a trip to the
local aquarium on Sunday, with a photo of Johnson being kissed by a sea
lion posted on Boomer's Instagram (above)
Good with the girls: Boomer also met
some of the female members of the United States swim team, including
Elizabeth Beisel, Allison Schmitt and Cammile Adams (above)
A
picture of a sea lion kissing Johnson was posted on Boomer's Instagram
account on Sunday, with the caption: 'Mom and I got a special show from
our sea lion friend Diego yesterday... Then at the end it ended with a
special surprise.'
Phelps,
31, also posted a photo from the visit on his Instagram account that
showed the entire family standing in front of one of the tanks, with the
swimmer writing how 'pumped' he was to see all the animals.
After
the aquarium, Boomer got a chance to meet a few of the ladies from the
US swim team, including Elizabeth Beisel, Allison Schmitt and Cammile
Adams.
Johnson,
31, posted a picture of a smiling Boomer hanging with the girls,
writing on Instagram that her son was acting like a 'flirt.'
The
family is new preparing for the trip to Rio, where Phelps will become
the first male American swimmer to compete in five Games, one of the
many Olympic records held by the 31-year-old athlete.
Phelps
has stated multiple times in interview that while he is aware of the
dangers of the Zika virus he is certain that he, Johnson and Boomer will
be safe, and they will be joining him for his final Olympics.
He
is already off to a strong start, having won the 100m butterfly, 200m
butterfly and 200m individual medley at Olympic trials in Nebraska
earlier this month.
Those results mean it is likely that Phelps will also swim in the 4×200 m freestyle, 4×100 m freestyle and 4×100 m medley.
Phelps
competed in those same six events at the 2012 London Games winning gold
in four ( 100m butterfly, 200m individual medley, 4×200 m freestyle,
4×100 m medley) and silver in two ( 200m butterfly, 4×100 m medley).
Over the course of his four Olympics Phelps has taken home 22 medals - 18 gold, two silver and two bronze.
Those
were actually won in just three Games to as he failed to medal in the
Sydney Games in 2000, though the 15-year-old still made his mark by
becoming the youngest male to make the US Olympic swim team in 68 years.
His
best showing came in 2008 at Beijing when he took home eight gold
medals, breaking the record for most events won in a single Olympic
Games.
He
also holds the record for most gold medals with 18 and most overall
medals with 22 over the course of his career. Soviet gymnast Larisa
Latynina is his closest competitor with 9 gold medals and 18 overall
medals.
Making the trip: Phelps will head to
Rio in 10 days with his family to swim in at least three, but likely
six, events, and try to add to his record number of medals (Boomer above
in his Team USA gear)
Heading south: Phelps has said that
Johnson and Boomer (above over the weekend) will be with him at the
Games despite the current outbreak of Zika virus
And
Phelps' medal count is likely to grow in Rio, a remarkable turnaround
for someone who in April 2014 announced they were retiring from the
sport.
The
swimmer has made it clear though in recent months that even his Olympic
glory pales in comparison to the happiness and fulfillment he feels as a
father.
Phelps and Johnson welcomed their first son in early May, and shared a photo of the newborn on Instagram soon after.
'Welcome
Boomer Robert Phelps into the world!!! Born 5-5-2016 at 7:21 pm !!!
Healthy and happy!!! Best feeling I have ever felt in my life!!!' wrote
Phelps.
The
swimmer dropped out of a planned event scheduled for a week after the
birth at that time to focus on the new addition to his family.
Both
Phelps and Johnson have been posting photos of Boomer on Instagram
every few days since he was born, with the swimmer saying having a son
has made him the 'happiest person in the world.'
They have also created an Instagram account for the infant.
Phelps and Johnson got engaged shortly after the swimmer left rehab and began training for the 2016 Olympic games in Rio.
Johnson, who was crowned Miss California USA in 2010, began dating Phelps in 2009, though in 2012 the couple briefly split.
They were friends for a few years before they dated one another.
The swimmer revealed in an interview with Sports Illustrated
last year what a crucial role Johnson played in getting him help after
he was charged with a DUI in late 2015 after a night of drinking and
gambling.
Johnson even accompanied him when he flew to The Meadows in Arizona for rehab.
