A husband and wife who set off on a trip of a lifetime eight years ago have told how despite gaining two new members of their family - and have a third on the way - they kept on traveling and have no plans to return home to the US.
Christine Gilbert and husband Drew, both 39, left Boston in 2008 to go traveling for a 're-boot' and to escape corporate life starting in Spain and later backpacked through Mexico and Central America.
The former corporate manager decided to leave her job to become a traveling writer and photographer and as a home-based graphic designer her husband was able to follow.
When they found out Christine was pregnant with their first child, Cole, they were 'a little stunned' but rather than go home they refused to give up their dream.
They went to Bend, Oregon, where Christine gave birth and they lived but after Cole was born she said 'the travel itch returned'.
Now, eight years on, they have a base in Oaxaca, Mexico, where Cole, six, and Stella, three, go to bilingual school, but, despite being pregnant with their third child, Christine said they are still moving around.
So far they have been to more than 40 countries including: Belgium, Belize, Bermuda, Cambodia, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates.
Christine told Daily Mail Online that their favorite country was Thailand and that they are still traveling but it takes longer for them to move around now than it did when there were just two of them.
Their next trip will be camping and canoeing through British Columbia in the summer, then after their third child is born in Mexico in September they will live on a boat.
She said: 'We are still traveling, but we take it a little slower now that the kids are older and I'm pregnant with number three.
